I studied public relations in college at Texas Tech University. While I was there I began working in the Christian music industry promoting concerts and managing bands. I took some time off after graduation and spent a summer in Portland, OR where God began revealing the next steps in life to me. I returned to Fort Worth – where I had grown up – and enrolled at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I put myself through school by working at Starbucks. Through an unexpected encounter with a classmate, God led me to 121 Community Church. Although I had spent my whole life in church, I had never been so engaged by God in all the aspects of the church’s ministry.

I met my wife at 121 and we were married in March 2007. I am now on staff there, as well as at a leadership development organization, Leaders Summit. I would have never expected to end up where I am, but as I look back over the course of my life I see how God was shaping me. Through all the Saturdays as a child that I spent cleaning the church with my mom; during the late nights of running the logistics of concerts; in the daily customer encounters at Starbucks; all along the way, God was shaping me for the work that I do now. And I’m excited to see what next steps today is preparing my wife and I for.
